Lots of good sushi / sashimi in the West Palm Beach area. One I've been hearing a lot about lately is Sushi Jo located across the street from Biba Hotel (319 Belvedere Road / 561.868.7893).

Thanks for the thumbs up on this place! We loved the sushi and many of the other non-sushi dishes (tofu, edamame, etc). It's a GREAT Japanese restaurant!

There is a great place in Downtown Delray Beach called Kyoto.
The worst sushi restaurant ever is called:
Saki Room in Delray Beach. You can read a review of it here: www.BadDining.com
Please stay away from it...!!!!

You have to try Echo for Sushi, I like the others mentioned, they are definently good. My list goes like this.
Echo
Marks at CityPlace
Sushi Jo
Sushi Rok
Kyoto - only because I don't like their rolls much - their sushi is good
I have not yet placed Carmines Ocean Grill and Sushi but I have heard very good things about their Sushi, I may be posting their results on Monday.

One thing I like about Sushi Jo in particular are their Appetizers, they are more interesting and flavorful than many other Sushi Places.

We ended up eating at Echo again Saturday night, I have to say that they definently retained their first place spot on my list of places to get Sushi. Their Escolar was just amazing - the best I have had in a year. The service, the energy, really a great place to have dinner and spend an evening.

Hello
Have you all tried Sushi Jo on PGA? We went there on Saturday night. I like this one better than the one on Olive. Very cool atmosphere. Nice shops and area to walk around after eating too, I think in the coming years that is going to be a very nice area. The menu was the same - I guess that should be no surprise.

Hi
Misc ramblings...one thing I have been thinking lately when out for sushi...I really don't get too excited about the Rolls our sushi restaurants offer. Don't get me wrong, the restaurants mentioned do have good rolls, The Lobster roll at Echo - excellent, the one at Sushi Jo is very good too. I they would get away from the basics or put some twist on them. For instance check out this roll ( you have to navigate to their menu ).
http://www.sushisamba.com/top.html - the Ezo roll - very unique and unimaginably good - I am almost depressed after I finish because it will likely be weeks till I get another.
We have great fish and appetizers here, I just wish I could find some more interesting rolls.

Hey Resident -
totally agree with you on those rolls!
Where's your favorite place for noodle dishers (ie ramen, udon, soba)?

Hi Unregistered
You know what, I was just thinking the other day that I need to give them a try. I have never actaully tried them. I have friends that eat Udon noodles all the time. This is on my short list, I will get back with you on the places I try.

Where do your friends go for noodle dishes. They're really good when it's cold out, but that's not so often in WPB!

We've enjoyed the noodle dishes at Saito's in CityPlace (and I know there are others located elsewhere). I've never eaten their rolls, but their menu (which you can view on their website) does have a huge selection with some interesting sounding variety.

I called Sushi Jo PGA today to order sushi for pick up. The first time I called I was on hold for 5 minutes. I had to hang up and call back to place my order. They told me 15-20 minutes. That was at 12:55. I arrived at 1:15. My order wasn't ready even though there were only 4 people in the restaurant and 4 chefs. I waited for 10 minutes and asked about my order. During this time I paid cash and tipped the waiter. The owner told me they had a big order for the Ritz Carlton. When I sat down to eat, they left out part of my order. I called back and spoke to the owner, Jo, and he yelled and me, told me I was a ***** and hung up on me.

I ate at Sushi Jo's and the owner is Pr _ _ _ . I complimented him before sitting to eat and he was so arrogant it almost made me barf. When I asked for something slightly, and I mean slightly off special that they had he insulted me and told me that if I wanted it my way I should go to Burger King - I said I didn't mind paying more but he wouldn't do it - he doesn't have a clue of how to treat the public. I tried it again and was worse the second time including half of the staff. I'll never eat there again!

Sad to hear this news because although I haven't been there in awhile, the times I had been there - food was excellent. Any other new sushi places around West Palm Beach or within the area?

Hi Zuni
That stinks. I have to say that it isn't the first time I have heard something that extreme about sushi jo though. We have been lucky on our visits to this point, especially since we almost always request some changes to the items we order, I agree with you though, I would never go back if I had an experience like that - it makes me consider it just hearing these stories.
