Designed
by the Atlanta architectural firm of Thompson, Ventulett,
Stainback & Associates, the stunning Palm Beach County
Convention Center features a total of 350,000 square feet
in downtown West Palm Beach. The 100,000 square-foot Exhibition
Hall on the Level
1 is easily divisible into two 50,000-square-foot
areas, and able to handle the weight of an 18-wheeler. More
than 2,000 people can comfortably attend a festive banquet
in the 25,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom on the Level
2, which has a pre-function area and outdoor
Terrace. In addition, the Center boasts 23,000 square feet
of meeting rooms/breakout space divisible into 23 rooms.
While the exterior of the Palm Beach County Convention Center
presents a sophisticated contemporary take on the terra-cotta
tile roofs, recessed windows trimmed in stone, bright stucco
facades, cultured coral stone and the rich mahogany cathedral
ceilings reminiscent of Palm Beach estates, the interior's
rich Brazilian mahogany deck-planked ceilings, prow-shaped
doorways, sail-like light fixtures and repetitive wave forms
evoke the feeling of a luxury cruise liner.
Located
at the corner of Okeechobee Boulevard and Florida Avenue,
the nineteen acre site is opposite the popular Kravis
Center for the Performing Arts and CityPlace,
a $600 million mixed-use complex, with world-class shopping,
restaurants, entertainment and residential space in the heart
of downtown West Palm Beach. The Palm Beach County Convention
Center is centrally located just one mile from Interstate
95, two miles from the Palm Beach International Airport and
three miles from the picture postcard beaches and blue waters
of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, three thousand guestrooms,
ranging from five star luxury to award winning boutique, are
available within only three miles of the Center.
