Derek Richards |
|
Picture the serious side of life as a plate glass window. Now, imagine
a cement truck barreling toward it at 100 mph. The maniac behind
the wheel? Derek Richards. As a comedian, Richards leaves fellow
cynics screaming for more. And as a cancer survivor, he proves that
a full-throttle sense of humor can make even the most dire days
a laughing matter. Whether to a packed house of hundreds or a handful
in a hospital ward, Richards rakes in the roars with tales about
his mom's dog; dating an exotic dancer; exercise; computers; and
life on the road. And that's just the beginning. Derek's comedy
comes from the heart as he talks of being born Irish and adopted
by parents that were of Polish/Russian descent (Dad) and French/German
heritage (Mom). As the son of a Ford Motor Company electrician,
he weaves in hilarious tales of his bluecollar upbringing. |

Pauly Shore |
|
A wildly goofy, deliberately obnoxious standup comedian, Shore shot
to fame on MTV, and later moved his established "weasel"
persona into features. The son of comic Sammy Shore, who opened
for Elvis Presley in Las Vegas in the 1960s and 70s, and Mitzi Shore,
the powerful and influential owner of L.A.'s The Comedy Store, Shore
grew up surrounded by comics. At 19, he began trying to tickle funny
bones himself, both at his mother's and other clubs. His trademarked
kinky curly hair and his emerging man-child image, horny and eager
to talk crudely about sex, yet also geeky and airheaded, attracted
attention. MTV proved to be the perfect arena for Shore's image
when his popular "Totally Pauly" show became an immediate
hit. His breakthrough film came with the surprise hit ($40 million
domestically) "Encino" Man" in 1992). Shore subsequently
bounded into his own film vehicles, showcasing his "fish out
of water" antics in "The Son-in-Law" (1993), in which
his patented L.A. boy must take to the farm, and "In the Army
Now" (1994), where Shore joins up and gets his trademarked
hairdo shaved off. Pauly is a frequent guest on Howard Stern, David
Letterman and Craig Killborn. He is always in the public eye with
his many sold out comedy shows throughout the country and most recently,
Pauly was a headliner at the Montreal Comedy Festival. |
